Hey guys, haven't posted anything for a couple of weeks, working on Buraiden and some private commissions. To make up for that, here's the completed Captain America picture I finished just before NYCC.

NYCC Con Sketches

Here are a couple more commissions from NYCC. I really like doing these, forces me out of my comfort zone. I just wish I had a better camera. With the Kratos pic I was asked to draw someone I'd never drawn before, it was a nice challenge. The Flash headshot was done on an blank trading card, it was hella fun. I might do a bunch of those for myself.

Post NYCC

Wow, this year was great! I made a lot of great new friends, saw some great costumes, and overall just had a great time. I was so busy I actually didn't get to see the main show floor! I was swamped, and that's a good thing. It was a real roller-coaster getting ready for this year. I originally hadn't planned on attending NYCC, but serendipity struck, and I'm glad I took the opportunity.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by to give me moral support, and thanks also to everyone who liked my artwork enough to spend their hard earned money on it!

NYCC Artist Alley Table U4 Tomorrow!

So it's almost here. It's been a roller coaster of a ride getting here. From not planning to attend to having to scramble and make preparations last minute. Hopefully I'll see some familiar faces and meet lots of new people! I'll be at table U4 in Artist Alley so stop on by! I hope everyone has a great Con! New York Comic-Con Table U4!

Holy Short Notice Batman! Looks like I WILL be at NYCC this year. I hadn't initially planned to attend, but it looks like I'll be using Mr. Mastsushima's table since he cannot attend.  I'll be at Table U4 in Artist's Alley and I hope to see you all there!

Just a few Dark Side points...nothing to worry about....

Another fairly quick sketch that I liked and decided to keep working on. This Cap is based mostly on his Ultimate/Movie incarnation with a few tweaks namely giving him back his helmet wings

(Because I like 'em dammit!)

Fei Long W.I.P. update

Here's some inks on the Fei Long sketch I did. I'm thinking of putting together a step by step of this and a few other pics I'm working on. A few adjustments were made to proportions and placement of the head, I think it works out better this way. Oh and don't worry, I haven't forgotten about everyone's favorite Assassin's Fist practitioners, I'll some more Ryu and Ken coming down the pipe soon.

Internet Woes

Wow, it's been a strange week. Due to a hardware issue my household was without internet access for almost a whole week. You never realize just how much you depend on something until it's gone. It was especially rough because we don't have Cable TV and basically watch everything online. The real shock came when I sat down to work and went to listen to some music. My friends can tell you I'm a bit of a House-Head and Audiophile, always looking around for new tracks. But I've become so dependent on Youtube as a music player that I didn't realize I haven't bought a CD in almost 6 years! Music is very much a part of my workflow, so that really threw my game off.  And before you ask, my phone is pretty cheap and can't handle Youtube well. It wasn't all bad though, I got to catch up on quite a few things that had gone neglected, but I'm back online and the updates will resume!

Hi-Ten-Ryu!

Hi guys. Had to fight through a cold this last week, so my workflow took a major swan dive off a high cliff.

I'm fully recovered now and did this drawing to get myself back in the "flow". I've been a Fei Long main since he first showed up back in SSF2. I loved beating people with the so called "weak" character. It's wierd, I've used him in every game he's appeared in (can't help it, Bruce Lee is probably one of the single biggest influences on my life), even when he was considered "bottom tier".It's wierd  getting hate for using him now that he's one of the best characters in the game.

Ken W.I.P.

   Here's an update to the Ken sketch, inked and ready to color. Made a few adjustments, wasn't happy with    the proportions.

Ryu

Her's a quick Ryu sketch. I'm in a Street Fighter mood lately, think I'll keep going with mood for a bit, see where it leads...

Random Ken sketch

Was just killing some time today and did this sketch of Ken. I went for speed, and I drew it with almost no references so may be a little boring, but solid. I may try sprucing it up with inks and colors, or maybe use it as part of a larger Street Fighter themed piece.

Blasts from the past

I love drawing robots! One of the few things I like drawing more than robots are airplanes, so of course when I draw robots that transform into airplanes I'm in heaven! This was an original mecha I designed a few years back for a video game project that unfortunately never got off the ground. The SA-177 Sabre Variable Geometry Aerospace Superiority Fighter. I used to study Shoji Kawamori's drawings like they were religious texts growing up and hopefully I learned something. I hope I get to do more work like this in the future.

Clone Wars

Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a huge Clone Wars fan. And yeah, I'm bummed it got cancelled, but I saw it coming as soon as Disney bought the franchise :(

Just a conversation between Dooku and old Palpy to practice my sequential storytelling.

More Hagane

This week's update brings us more Relentless Shadow action. This is an "inked" image to nail down his overall design and features. This is usually the near final stages of my character design process. After this I go back and give the image shadows and highlights.

Happy 4th of July!

I hope everyone had a happy and safe holiday.  As for myself, I got together with a small group friends and watched a short fireworks show.  For this weeks first update I decided to go with  a character I designed for Buraiden. really, this guy came first, then Buraiden started to evolve around him, so he's sort of the impetus for the entire project.  So here we have Hattori Hagane, the "Relentless Shadow".

This is a "colored sketch" that I'm using as both a motion and palette test, hence the dirth of shadows.

Buraiden Sketch #1

Here's a development sketch from Buraiden. I'll be trying to upload some new material around twice a week.We're gonna start it off with Agrippa Ironheart. This is just a rough sketch as I work out the "essence" of the character.

Post EternalCon Wrapup

Wow, what a great day! I had loads of fun and met a ton of great new friends! EternalCon was one of the best Convention experiences I've had in a long while. It was extremely well organized and professionally run. My compliments to John, Frank and all the EternalCon staff for doing one helluva great job!

On a side note, I got to meet a childhood hero of mine Taimak! I know my sister is gonna flip when she sees this picture!

And here's a Thor commission I did, I really didn't want to let it go, but the customer is king!
Come to think of it, I don't really draw enough Marvel characters, I'll need to rectify that.

More Fantasy!

Here's a piece I did around a year ago. I did this when I was tossing characters around for Buraiden, but I wound up not using them. Valky'r the Dark Elf Assassin having a "difference of opinion" with Boskone, an Orc Proud-shield.. 

It's a shame as this is one of my favorite pieces I've done so far. But rest assured, you'll definitely see these guys again someday. Who do you think is going to come out on top?

Emcon wrapup

Emcon was awesome! The turnout was bigger than I expected and I met a lot of nice new people!

Gateway Comic-Con Was awesom!

Man, what a day! The turnout was better than I could have hoped for, but even more, my students really brought their A-game! You guys have made me proud with the awesome job you did. Also a big Thank You for everyone who took the time out on a Friday afternoon to stop by, it really meant a
